Installing UbuntuUbuntu Linux has a couple of different options for installation. They name them as a desktop install, server install, and alternate install. All of which are offered in ISO CD format for download. The scope of this article will be the i386 architecture but can most likely be applied to others. The desktop CD install is also Live CD Linux so that you can try it out before installing, but we will go into that more later. The server CD install is geared more toward people who do not need a gui (Graphical User Interface) to work or those computers that do not have monitors hooked up to them at all times. The alternate CD install, according to Ubuntu, "allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Ubuntu" which are out of the scope of this article.
